  • La Ferme de Grand Jean is between Bergerac and Lembras (Dordogne, France) in the heart of the Pécharmant wine growing region.  It is a family run farm with horse riding for all levels and ages starting from beginners lessons and tiny tots. Louise is the instructor/coach and has British Horse Society Qualifications. She has spent all her life with horses and has more years of experience than she would like to think of!

    Louise has spent time learning French and takes lesson and hacks out with both French and English clients. Non-gîte residents and own horse welcome.  Long distance rides from 4 hours to 4 days.  There is livery at grass and/or stable available. Louise has done various French courses and been successful in creating a ferme pédagogique (teaching farm). She has also completed a riding for the disabled course. Affiliated with Bienvenue à la Ferme, Federation Français Equitation and The British Horse Society. All riders must wear a riding hat (hats and boots can be provided). Riders are assessed before hacking for their safety. English and French spoken.

    La Ferme de Grand Jean also offers comfortable self catering gîtes that can accommodate up to 16 people with pools (non-riders welcome). The three gîtes have 2 and 3 star rating with the prefecture. There is a also a two person gîte adapted for wheelchair use. For babies there are two cots and a high chair available.  Linen and towels  are provided. There are washing machines available in the gîte or closeby. Nearby you have Fôret de Liorac and Lac de Pombonne. There are also great restaurants and delicious wines in the area. Tourist attractions include caves (Lascaux II two hours away), chateaux, bastide towns, markets, rivers, hiking, canoeing and mountain biking. The Dordogne towns of Bergerac and Périgueux are nearby and La Ferme de Grand Jean is close is to road, rail and airport links.
